'Seed and Bound' in Mechanica Thermal
Just trying to set up a 'simple' thermal analysis in Mechanica (sorry, Creo 2.0 Simulate). I want to apply my heat load (and also my convection boundary) to a fairly large collection of surfaces -...

D'oh, found it - I have to Add within the Surface Sets dialogue. Then I can make my newly-added set a Seed and Boundary.

Bumping this thread because I've hit it again. I'm trying to mesh a gear casing for thermal analysis, so I've got a heat load on most of the interior surfaces and a convection condition on most of the...

Look under Autogem, chnage the geometry tolerance settings to absolute and use values appropriat for your model, your surfaces will no longer be deleted.good luck! Erik Picture below (in dutch, but...

Thanks! We have already been experimenting with a radius, but other constraints mean that even a big one doesn't quite fix it, though it does help.

I guess you have to create a material with those properties at least. http://help.ptc.com/creo_hc/creo30_pma_hc/usascii/index.html#page/pma/simulate/modstr/props/reference/elastoplastic.html Not sure...

Do the teeth drive anything? Will they see variable tangential loading?
View ArticleRe: High local stress at inside corner
Jeff, is that the area of the highest stress? If so, to what % did the max_vm_stress measure converge to? What do your constraints and loads look like?
View ArticleRe: High local stress at inside corner
If you had set up a pre-defined measure to plot the stress convergence in the region of interest, you could tell if it was a singularity, because singularities do not converge.
View ArticleRe: High local stress at inside corner
No, the teeth don't have any loads on them, so we don't need to worry about fatigue from cyclic loading. We have been experimenting with the elastic/plastic analysis and are getting results that are...
View ArticleRe: High local stress at inside corner
I will look at the convergence, that's a good idea. But yes, that is the area of highest stress, according to Simulate. Things are looking better using the elastic/plastic analysis. Thanks again!Jeff
View ArticleRe: High local stress at inside corner
That makes sinse - we will look to see if there is a singularity there. Thanks for your help, we appreciate it!Jeff

I'm trying to understand how weighted links work and could use some help. I should mention that I am attempting to use a weighted link to distribute a reaction force to a surface. I create a weighted...
