Re: possible to export nodal data (stress/strain/displacement/etc) to file?

I used this option, to create ASCII files in the Run Settings. But how can I find this file, or where?I loked for a file with .txt extension, in the directory of the simulation, but could not find...

Re: How to put constraint on threads...

Any good machine design reference will have methods to calculate root stress. More importantly, fasteners are typically designed to fail through the shank and not the threads. Many fastener...

Re: possible to export nodal data (stress/strain/displacement/etc) to file?

mesh in mechanica is different from other FEA solvers,it uses Geometric element method,so the nodes formed in mechanica is of no use to solve it in anyother solver. or i am missing something.

Re: possible to export nodal data (stress/strain/displacement/etc) to file?

You can find a set of files in the analysis directory. You can find this directory by checking your "Directory for output files" setting (in the run settings window) and looking up a folder which has...

Re: How to put constraint on threads...

If you want to analyse root stress, you should create a nut and assemble it onto the screw. You'll then have to create a 2D axisymmetric model (Edit>Mechanica model setup>Advanced>Type) and...

Re: Issue when analysing assembly with contact+large deformation

So.I have tried to replace the load by a displacement constraint (representing the screw tightening) and it worked fine... But I need to have a load input. Can anyone help or advise me ?

Re: How to put constraint on threads...

Here is a very interesting discussion about thread analysis: http://communities.ptc.com/message/157166#157166

Re: How to put constraint on threads...

This is really a stupid question, how do u create a 2D axisymmetric model? Do u mean draw a new one or create it out of my 3D model? Please help.

Re: How to put constraint on threads...

You can create it out of your 3D model. You can create surfaces based on your parts. You also have to create a CSYS to define the axis of revolution (Y) and, of course, all of the surfaces must be on...

Re: possible to export nodal data (stress/strain/displacement/etc) to file?

The ascii option outputs the format of the data in the file itself as ascii and does not simply create .txt file extensions.  It codes the data in a different way and allows more common tools to access...

Re: How to put constraint on threads...

I do a 2D run...I am not sure about the results...I put the 825000 lbs on the face of the nut and contact surface between thread touching surfaces.  What do u guys think?

Re: How to put constraint on threads...

If the nuts are pressing a part, you shall apply the load on the inside surface of a nut and add a displacement constraint to the second nut's inside surface. It seems obvious that the teeth have to be...

Re: How to put constraint on threads...

Howard, You seem to have applied both a load and a constraint to the nut. It looks like you're just squeezing the nut, and not transmitting any load through the rod...

Re: How to put constraint on threads...

It also looks like you have bonded the nut's teeth with the rod ones. You must create contact interfaces instead of bonded interfaces.

Re: Loads for simulations

The first question to answer is: what do you want to calculate with this dynamic analysis ? Mechanically speaking, you cannot often impose the speed and the torque of a motor. It is defined by the...
